Laura Palermo, MCP

Registered Clinical Counsellor

Laura is a friendly, empathetic, and warm individual who believes that
all people have the power to create change and find healing. Laura works
with individuals, couples, and families from a very holistic,
client-centred approach. She believes with encouragement, working
collaboratively, and through therapeutic intervention, she is able to
walk alongside her clients on their healing journey. Laura understands
how much courage it takes to take the first step and to reach out for
help and to explore the possibilities that therapy can offer.

Laura is a registered clinical counsellor with the British Columbia
Association of Clinical counsellors (BCACC). She has a Master’s degree
in Counselling Psychology from Adler University in Vancouver, BC. Laura
believes that a strong therapeutic relationship helps to build the
foundation for helping her clients explore and work towards their goals
and aspirations. Laura takes a genuine approach to her work and creates
a non-judgemental, calming, kind, and safe space for her clients to gain
insight and to grow. She believes that her clients are the experts on
their own lives and feels privileged to be invited along her client’s
journeys.

Laura enjoys working with individuals from all walks of life and has
worked with young children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and
agencies. Laura specializes in working with young children and families
to address issues like trauma and family dynamics. In her work with
children Laura takes a child-centred play-therapy approach. This
includes creative and play interventions to help build relationship
between child and caregiver and to help in the healing process.

Laura regularly works with individuals from an integrated practice where
body, mind, and spirit are all considered part of the healing process.
Laura focuses on the therapeutic relationship and uses different
therapeutic interventions and modalities to help her clients explore
their challenges and their potential. Laura works to empower her clients
to create goals and to work together towards wellness.  She is excited
for you to begin your journey at Parallel Wellness.
